First Attack Training – Course Information

First Attack Fire Fighting is a crucial aspect of workplace safety. It predominantly involves the use of fire extinguishers and fire blankets, and can also incorporate fire hose reels to control small fires before they escalate into larger ones.

Essential Training offers First Attack Fire Fighting as customised safety training to suit your business needs. Our standard short course covers the theory of fire, including the triangle of combustion, classes of fire, extinguisher identification and types, as well as correct use of first attack fire equipment including extinguishers, fire blankets and hose reels.

The training also covers the impact of incorrect use of fire extinguishers and hose reels on different classes of fire. Our theory component is complemented by an engaging practical session, where participants have the opportunity to utilise real extinguishers to gauge the weight, feeling and physical requirements for correct usage.

The Australian Safety Standards provide guidelines for the safe use of First Attack Fire Fighting equipment in the workplace

This tailored short course meets Australian Standards (AS3745-2010) that outline where First Attack Firefighting forms part of your emergency procedures, specific occupants shall be trained to enable them to competently execute their duties. Those nominated must also retain their skills via regular training.

This course is closely aligned to the Unit of Competency: CPPFES2005 Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment (Release 1) –  which is also on offer at Essential Training should clients wish to achieve nationally recognised certification via a more comprehensive training and assessment process.

AS3745-2010 requires that where First Attack Firefighting forms part of your emergency procedures, specific occupants shall be trained to enable them to competently execute their duties. Those nominated must retain their skills by undertaking First Attack Firefighting training at least every two years.
